This past weekend, on July 24th, Carol Wrolstad taught a new line dance called "Runaway" and reviewed another called Chicken Fried. We had so much fun!
We are pleased to have our 5th Saturday dance at the Paradise Ballroom this weekend on July 31st. Sam House, our resident ballroom dance instructor,will be teaching the lesson at 7pm. The lesson will be Night Club 2-Step. We are also working on a surprise in honor of National Dance Day which is on July 31st.
Next month, we want to invite you to come on Saturday, August 14th to the Tigard dance. This dance will be our "Hawaiian Night" and we want to encourage all of you to come dressed in your Hawaiian shirt or skirt. We may even have a Hula dance contest!
On Saturday, August 28th in Milwaukie,come help us celebrate the birthday of one of our most favorite people, Maxcine Smith. We'll be bringing cake and ice cream!
ANNOUNCING: SWEET 16 PARTY! October 9th 2010. CCMFRIENDS will be 16 years old, and we are having a party. The Memphis Kings, a wonderful Elvis Presley band, will be playing for part of the night. We will have food, fun, dancing and a contest or two. Bring your friends!

CCMfriends is non-denominational, with roughly a thousand "unofficial members" who are mostly Christian and mostly single. We welcome non-Christians, couples and married folks as well. CCMfriends holds several dances each month in Portland, Tigard & Milwaukie, Oregon. Our emphasis is on dancing for the fun of it! |

Kevin's Corner
Perhaps you have have heard the song by Rodney Atkins "If You're Going Through Hell" The first lines are these.......
"Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back

I think we all can identify with what that . We've all heard Psalm 23. Do you remember the part that says " even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me". David, the writer, knew that in the darkest times, even when his life hung in the balance, he could count on God to see him through. He was not alone, not ever.
Notice that the verse doesn't say, "though I tippee-toe around the valley of the shadow of death, or "though I stand on a hill and look over the valley of the shadow of death". God acknowledges that we will have hard times on this earth. And surely, we do.
We all know the feeling of helplessness, especially right now with economic times as they are. Some of us have lost jobs, are in the middle of fighting illness, or have pressures at home or work that make us feel like the world is caving in around us. It is during these times that we need more than ever to put our worries and cares into the hands of our maker, Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxieties upon Him for He cares for you." It sounds simple, right? Perhaps the simple answer is the best. Give Jesus your anxieties, fears and problems and then just follow Him as He leads you through your valley of shadows.
Dancing with joy until the Lord returns.

About our staff:
CCMfriends' Co-directors are Kevin & Sheryll Fong of Beaverton. Kevin & Sheryll met at a CCMfriends dance in 2003. They stepped into their new roles as co-directors in October 2009.
CCMfriends' Volunteer Coordinators are Dan and Jenni Barrett of Canby, who also originally met at a CCMfriends dance.
CCMfriends is supported by a committed crew of volunteers who devote anywhere from an hour a month to 20 hours a week of their own free time to the cause. Thank God for volunteers!
