Can't Afford The $8 Door Charge?
-- COME ANYWAY!
We talked about this before in relation to the 2nd-Friday dances in Milwaukie -- but I want to make sure everyone understands: this invitation applies to ALL CCmfriends dances.
A lot of folks are going through tough times right now.
Several people have told us that their friends aren't coming to the dances because of money issues. We don't want that to happen. This is the time we all need to pull together -- and maybe it's a time when we really need each other's company.
A couple of things to think about:
* The $8 door charge is a suggested donation. If you can only afford $5 (or $3, or $1), that's all right. If you can donate more to help cover someone else, that's okay too.
* If you can't afford anything, we want to see you anyway. It's easy: all you have to say is, "I'm not donating this time." If you're not comfortable doing that, here are a couple of options:
- If you feel the need, talk to one of the coordinators or volunteers (Ron, Lisa, Dan, Jenni, Ed, Lucy). I guarantee you'll be welcomed with open arms by any one of us - or -
- Sign up to help out for an hour -- at check-in, on the set-up crew, or on the clean-up crew - or -
- Offer an "IOU" and follow up later when things pick up - or -
- Email us a couple of days in advance and we'll send you a free pass.
Whatever you do, don't stay home.
CCM stands for Christian Connection Ministries. Our whole purpose is to provide a social connection point for Christians. This isn't just about singles meeting singles: the dances give us an opportunity to fellowship together. (If you have any doubt about that, count the number of couples who've stuck with us after getting married!) That fellowship is more important now than ever.
As long as we can take in enough to keep the doors open, we'll continue holding dances; but the dances aren't fun without a good crowd of friends.
It's time to stick together. If you know of someone who just needs some encouragement to come back, let us know and we'll take it from there.
Ron & Lisa
P.S. Thanks again to those of you who've been able to contribute a little extra to keep Milwaukie going. It means a lot.
